I.O.I has officially released their final song and music video!
The song, entitled “Downpour,” features a soft, sweet melody that showcases their youthful voices perfectly. The lyrics tell fans not to be discouraged if things are sad right now, because things will always work out in the end. The song even hints that perhaps the group can reunite in the future.
The video itself shows old clips from the show, the girls training, live performances, cheering fans, and much more. We see the long journey the girls took from their days on “Produce 101” to their amazingly successful career as idols. The sentimental collage of clips and videos will be sure to get your crying, regardless if you are a fan of the group or not.
On a special note, the song was produced by SEVENTEEN’s Woozi. He wrote the lyrics as well.
I.O.I was started as a special project group and was made up of the winning contestants from the program “Produce 101.” All of the members are from different labels, leaving them only a short time to do promotions together as one group. The group soon skyrocketed to fame however, leaving most people in shock at how quickly they became one of the staple girl groups in Kpop.
As previously agreed though, the members must now return to their own labels and pursue their careers in different ways. Some of the girls are already in established girl groups, and others will be joining new groups soon.
