Naver Celebrates SS301’s 11th Anniversary With Special Photo Gallery

Legendary K-pop group SS501 is celebrating their 11th anniversary on June 8th, 2016. As a result, Naver has released a special, in-depth article about the band and their special project group, Double S 301.

The article featured a total of 25 previously unseen photographs of the Double S 301 members, both onstage and behind the scenes. It also featured the history of the group, with special quotes from the members and a video interview.

SS501 was one of the most important K-pop groups of their time, being one of the first boy bands to reach a large international audience. Even though the members began a hiatus from group activities in 2010, they continued to be one of the best-selling bands in K-pop for the next several years. As of 2013, they were still listed as one of the Top 5 groups in Korea, despite not having released a new album since “Destination” in 2010.

In 2016, members Heo Young Saeng, Kim Kyu Jong and Kim Hyung Jun reunited for a special project group entitled Double S 301 (previously the UR Man sub-unit). They released a new album in February of this year and held a special comeback showcase as well. When the tickets went on sale for the showcase, they sold out in an astounding three minutes!

Following the success of this comeback, as well as the release of a Japanese album, the group announced they would make a special comeback in honor of their 11th anniversary on June 8th. Their first comeback stage is to be held the same day, with the album to be released the following day. The special album is entitled “ESTRENO,” which means “debut” in Spanish and is a nod to the anniversary of their debut as a group.
