“Battleship Island” has released a series of stills from the movie, as well as the official trailer!
Directed by Ryeo Soong Wan, known for his action-packed film “The Berlin File,” this intense new film tells the story of a group of people who risk their lives to escape a labor camp. The film is set in the era of the Japanese occupation and focuses on the escape of prisoners from the Hashima or Gunkanjima Island— better known as “Battleship Island.”
The movie is composed of a star-studded and multi-awarded cast like Song Joong Ki (“Werewolf Boy,” “Descendants of the Sun”). He will be playing Park Mo Young, a character who goes to Battleship Island to rescue a member of his group. So Ji Sub (“Always,” “Oh My Venus”) will act as Choi Chil Sung, a person who causes trouble in the labor camp. Despite his rough attitude, however, he has a genuine heart. Hwang Jung Min (“Veteran)” plays Lee Gang-ok, a man aiming to protect his daughter by sending her to Japan. However, he was deceived and ends up in Battleship Island with his daughter Kim Su-an (“Train to Busan”). The talented Lee Jung Hyun ( “The Admiral: Roaring Currents”) will play a prostitute there on the island.
The upcoming film is set to release in July and is already expected to be a huge hit in theatres for the intriguing topic and the amazing, A-list cast.
