KBS Presents The 2016 Kpop World Festival Contest in Mexico City

Along with the famous Korean TV station KBS, many important Korean officials and businesses united to present the 5th Annual Kpop World Festival Contest in Mexico.

The purpose of the event is to allow both Koreans and Mexicans the opportunity to perform onstage in a competition presented by the Korean Cultural Center in Mexico City. Contestants can sing or dance to any K-pop songs and routines. After the contest, winners are announced and given prizes. However, the first place winner then proceeds to the next stage of the contest- going against 40 other winners from around the world. Out of this large group, only 13 are selected as the finalists and are given a trip to Korea in order to perform onstage in the large 2016 WORLD KPOP FESTIVAL  in Seoul.

Due to the opportunity to perform onstage in the competition and for such an amazing grand prize as performing in the large, well-known World Kpop Festival in Seoul, many people applied as contestants and gave it their all on the stage.

In addition to the contest though, the event was a push to bridge the gap between the Mexican and Korean cultures. A huge number of Koreans have immigrated to Mexico, so the Korean embassy and other organizations are eager to share their own culture with Mexico and teach the locals about their music, food, society and culture.

What The Kpop was at the event to get the scoop on the competition and to see how the Korean officials are reaching out to the Mexican community. Check out the pictures below!
